Gaoua: The governor of the Djoro region, Siaka Barro, presided over the closing ceremony of the first promotion of the patriotic immersion program for new high school graduates at the Place de la Nation. The event was attended by administrative, military, and customary authorities, along with parents of the students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, out of an initial enrollment of 2,200, a total of 2,040 high school graduates participated in this mandatory patriotic immersion. The program, initiated by the highest authorities, aims to cultivate a new generation of citizens who are disciplined, patriotic, and committed to the nation’s interests.
Throughout the month-long program, participants underwent 111 hours of training encompassing 11 modules. These modules covered topics such as order, discipline, national identity, patriotism, combating violent extremism, intelligence, hygiene, civics, digital security, and entrepreneurship.
Abraham Hien, representing the participants, highlighted that the training equipped them with knowledge, skills, and essential values, including honor, civic-mindedness, discipline, patriotism, and community living. He expressed confidence in the supervision received and assured that the graduates would apply the lessons learned to contribute effectively to Burkina Faso’s development.
On behalf of his peers, Hien reaffirmed the class’s commitment to uphold these values and extended gratitude to the trainers, authorities, and local community for their support and hospitality.
Governor Siaka Barro, addressing the participants, emphasized that the conclusion of this immersion marks the beginning of a concrete commitment. He encouraged the graduates to apply the acquired values within their families, communities, and future endeavors at universities. The governor commended the dedication of parents, civil society, and the entire Djoro community for the initiative’s success, stressing that youth strength is bolstered by community support.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the graduates and a parade.
