Addis Ababa: The African Boxing Confederation Headquarters was officially inaugurated in Addis Ababa today.
On the occasion, Culture and Sports Minister Shewit Shanka said the inauguration of the headquarters of the African Boxing Confederation in Ethiopia will help to strengthen sports diplomacy and develop the sport.
It will also help revive boxing in the country and encourage the youth to engage in boxing, which is a lucrative sport that will contribute to the country’s development.
The minister emphasized that boxing’s social, political, and economic impact is significant in enhancing Ethiopia’s image.
African Boxing Confederation President, Eyasu Wosen stated on his part that the presence of the headquarters in Ethiopia will boost boxing, promote tourism, and attract investment.
He added that the African Boxing Confederation will support the sport across the continent by engage sponsors.
In connection with the headquarters announcement, international boxing championship will take place at the Adwa
Victory Memorial Museum today.
