The body of an unknown adult man was found floating in the Kavango River at Vhungu Vhungu village on Sunday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Crime Investigation Coordinator in the Kavango East Region Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu confirmed the incident to Nampa on Tuesday.

According to Kanyetu, the body was found floating from the West to East direction and when it was retrieved out of the river to the river bank, people living in the area could identify it,” he said.

The deceased body Kanyetu added, was in the state of decomposition and was transported to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
