Addis Ababa: Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe held a discussion with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in Addis Ababa today. In a briefing to the media following his discussion with the WTO General Director, Kassahun mentioned the establishment of a WTO accession unit composed of highly qualified experts to support Ethiopia's accession negotiations. According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Minister stated that the Ministry aims to finalize the WTO accession process by 2026. He expressed gratitude to the Director-General and her team for their commitment and technical support to Ethiopia's accession process to the WTO. Ethiopia's journey toward WTO membership has been ongoing since 2003, reflecting a long-standing commitment to joining the international trade body.
