Addis Ababa: Minister of Planning and Development Fitsum Assefa held discussion with Danish Ambassador to Ethiopia Sune Krogstrup.

Th Danish Ambassador informed his country’s scaled up engagement under the new program for supporting Ethiopia in climate change and environment, energy, and water among others.

Fitsum requested to expand the support into the key priority areas such as agriculture sector including the livestock.

The Minister further highlights the need for focusing on access to energy issue when we work on the energy sector in such a way that our development partners who are interested to support Ethiopia to pool their efforts and support for impact.

On the water sector, the Minister emphasized the need for water supply across the country having considered the climate resilience in the sector.

The Ambassador took note of the national priorities in the new country engagement programming and considering climate change and environment across the planning and implementation process.

The two part
ies agreed to avoid fragmentation while promoting an integrated approach, according to Ministry of Planning and Development. .

The two parties explored for signing of the MOU/Declaration between the two esteemed countries that would be signed by Ministers of the respective sectors with a witnessing by the two PMs.

The Danish side invited Ethiopia to the Danish sponsored side event on Group of Negative Emitters (GONE) and hopefully Ethiopia to announce its membership at COP29 considering the ongoing ambitious climate actions across the sectors is leading Ethiopia towards this end.
