Ethiopia, Finland Agree to Strengthen Cooperation, Expedite Implementation of Existing Projects

State Minister of Finance Semereta Sewasew discussed with a delegation led by Helena Airaksinen, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Africa and the Middle East of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

Semereta warmly welcomed the team and explained the current situation in Ethiopia, particularly after the signing of the peace agreement.

She described the overall situation and the measures taken by the government to reach and provide basic services to war-affected areas.

Helena on her part said that her government has not scaled down and continued its assistance even at the time of Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict.

She described the overall priority sectors which are basically, water and sanitation, climate smart agriculture including emergency response and early warning system and private sector development.

The Deputy Director General has also committed to support the ongoing development plan and engage the new government established in Finland.

According to Ministry of Finance, both sides agreed to further strengthen the overall cooperation between the two countries and proactively engage to further improvement of the overall implementation of the existing projects and work on new initiatives.
