Addis ababa: Ethiopia has secured more than 2.48 billion USD from exports during the first quarter of the current Ethiopian Fiscal Year, announced Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe today. Addressing a forum to review the first quarter performance of the EFY, the Minister highlighted tangible results in key sectors during this period. According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ethiopia's export earnings have increased by 65 percent compared to the same period last year. The 117 percent performance of the first quarter indicates that the country is on track to meet its target of 9.4 billion USD for the year. The Minister also noted that this fiscal quarter has been productive, as Ethiopia is nearing membership in the WTO and exporting to neighboring countries under the AfCFTA framework. Ethiopia previously achieved a record-breaking export revenue of 8.3 billion USD in the 2024/25 fiscal year, marking a 116 percent increase from the prior year.
