Addis ababa: Ethiopia has secured more than 2.48 billion USD from exports during the first quarter of the current Ethiopian Fiscal Year, as announced by Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe today. Addressing a forum to review the first quarter performance of the EFY, the Minister highlighted tangible results achieved in key sectors during this period. According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ethiopia's export earnings have surged by 65 percent compared to the same period last year. The 117 percent performance in the first quarter indicates that the country is on track to achieve its target of 9.4 billion USD for the year. The Minister further mentioned that the first quarter has been productive, with Ethiopia edging closer to joining the WTO and exporting to neighboring countries under the AfCFTA framework. Ethiopia had previously achieved record-breaking export revenue of 8.3 billion USD in the 2024/25 fiscal year, marking a 116 percent increase from the previous year.
