Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taye Atske-Selassie and his Tunisian counterpart Nabil Ammar discussed on bilateral and regional issues.

Ethiopia is carrying out bilateral discussions with foreign ministers of African countries on the sidelines of the 44th Ordinary Executive Council Session of the African Union (AU) being held in Addis Ababa.

The bilateral talks are being held with a view to safeguarding the national interests of Ethiopia, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ambassador Meles Alem said.

As part of the 37th Heads of State and Governments Summit, the 44th Ordinary Executive Council Session of the African Union (AU) is underway for two day in Addis Ababa.

Foreign Affairs Ministers of AU member states, heads of various international organizations and invited guests are participating at the meeting.

Ethiopia is working to strengthen its diplomatic ties with various countries on the sidelines of the meeting with a view to safeguard its national interest, Foreign Affairs Spokespe
rson indicated.

Accordingly, Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taye Atske-Selassie and his Tunisia counterpart Nabil Ammar held bilateral talks this afternoon.

During their discussion, the two sides agreed to work cooperatively in all fields.

The two ministers have also agreed to hold the Ethio-Tunisia Joint Ministerial meeting as soon as possible

They have also exchanged views on ways to jointly work to expediting Africa’s Agenda, it was indicated.

Similar bilateral talks will be held, the spokesperson said.

Leaders of 51 countries are expected to participate at the AU summit to be held in the weekend.
