Addis Ababa: Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) and Dodai, a leading electric mobility company in the country, have signed Memorandum of Understandings to accelerate sustainable urban transportation.

MoU was signed today by Ethiopian Investment Holdings CEO, Brook Taye and Yuma Sasaki, founder and CEO of Dodai electric mobility company.

The partnership agreement between the two aimed at rolling out 100 battery swap stations in Addis Ababa within the next 12 months and expanding to 300 stations, including Sheger city, over the next 3 years.

The agreement is anticipated to drive the growth of sustainable transportation in the country, it was indicated.

Moreover, the partnership also focuses on building a battery swap network for electric motor bikes with the goal of expanding to include electric buses in the future.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ethiopian Investment Holdings CEO, Brook Taye said that partnership agreement aligns with the overarching vision of delivering, diversifying and driving nat
ional growth of EIH.

The CEO reaffirmed Ethiopian Investment Holdings’ commitment to investing in such initiatives that deliver job creation and contribute to Ethiopia’s Climate Resilient Green Economy.

EIH will also drive and support innovative ventures like Dodai that bring about solutions to the challenges in the transportation sector, he pointed out.

Founder and CEO of Dodai, Yuma Sasaki on his part said that the partnership of his company with EIH is a critical milestone for reshaping the transportation sector of Ethiopia.

The goal of his company is to scale up to 100 stations within 12 months with continuous optimization based on real time usage data to provide the most efficient service, he added.

Sasaki further stated that his company, Dodai, aims to make e-mobility accessible to everyone in Addis Ababa and Sheger city within three years through its proven battery swapping model, stressing that it is the beginning of the journey.
