Addis Ababa: Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and the newly appointed Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Executive Secretary Calver Gatete held a fruitful discussion today.

After welcoming the newly appointed ECA Executive Secretary, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide said that Ethiopia and the commission should work together to make the collective voice of Africa heard in the international arena.

To realize Ethiopia’s growth and development, the Government of Ethiopia has been working in the Home-Grown Economic Reform Agenda and some other macro-economic reforms in collaboration with reliable development partners, including the Economic Commission for Africa, he noted.

The minister further said that as the current Chairman of the Horn of Africa Initiative he is highly committed to working together with the commission to bring socio-economic change and regional economic integration in the Horn countries.

ECA Executive Secretary Calver Gatete said the commission was established for the wellbeing of Africans, addin
g that African leaders and finance ministers should work together with the Economic Commission for Africa to put the African agenda on the forefront.

Economic Commission for Africa will conducted the 56th Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development dedicated to discuss financing the transition to inclusive and green economies from March 4-5, 2024
