Gloom As Fisherman Drowns In Nyakach

A cloud of gloom and sadness has descended among the residents of Nyakach after a fisherman drowned during a fishing spree.

Nyakach Assistant County Commissioner Darwin Orina confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Joel Okech

The ACC has since warned the residents to exercise caution when on fishing spree, especially in the wake of the bad weather that has been occasioned by the heavy rains and flooding in most parts of Kisumu County.

The body of the deceased was taken to Nyabondo Mission Hospital Mortuary while investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of his death.

‘As the government, we will take steps to establish what exactly happened with this man who is said to have been on a fishing expedition and it is my plea to every resident to exercise extreme caution, especially during this season when they venture into the lake,’ warned Orina

The ACC warned even those who fish in the ponds to hold on for the rains to subside before going on with their business even as he passed a
message of condolence to the bereaved family

He however encouraged members of the community to be on constant alert for any important messages or warnings that may be issued by the government and to take such with the seriousness such deserves.
