Governor Malombe Asks For Cooperation With Kitui County Assembly


Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has lauded the existing cooperation between the Executive and the County Assembly wing saying it was key to the successful implementation of his 2022 campaign manifesto.

The governor while delivering a State of the County Address on Thursday at the County Assembly Chambers, stated that mutual collaboration between the two institutions has spurred development across the county with numerous projects so far accomplished.

‘I prioritized cultivation of cooperation between my government and the County Assembly immediately after I assumed the office so that I could smoothly deliver my Election Manifesto,’ said the Governor.

In his 31-page address, Dr Malombe further disclosed his government’s development plans and projections targeted to be accomplished during the next financial year of 2024/2025 and wished for an extension of the cooperation to enable him to achieve the next year’s targets.

The county boss observed that the people of Kitui were looking upon the County Assembl
y and his office, to offer solutions to a myriad of challenges that they were facing the region hence the need for continued cooperation.

‘Our people hold great expectations that we, their leaders, will rejuvenate their hopes and aspirations by spurring development,’ the governor reminded the Members of the County Assembly.

He also exuded confidence that the Assembly and the Executive would cultivate a mutual working relationship that would result in concerted efforts to unlock the potential of the County.

He noted that the cooperation and consultations were geared towards achieving the county vision of being a prosperous county with vibrant rural and urban

economies whose people would enjoy high living standards.

‘This will also help us achieve our Mission, which is to provide effective delivery of county services and an enabling environment for inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development and improved livelihoods for all,’ he added.

He affirmed that for the 16 months that his government has be
en in office, it has made remarkable progress in achieving life-transforming initiatives.

The governor enumerated a handful of achievements resulting from the cooperation such as the timely passing of bills and legislations at the county assembly.

‘The County Assembly’s response has been timely in approving implementations and provision of needed services to the county residents,’ he said.

Malombe also recalled that as a result of the partnership, he was able to successfully appoint four committees to carry out various tasks and advise the County Government on the development agenda.

‘These committees were; the Kitui County Pending Bills Committee, 2022, Kitui County Human Resource Audit and Rationalization Committee, 2022, the Kitui County Government Motor Vehicles, Plant and Determination,’ he said.

In his parting shot, Malombe called for continued support from Members of the County Assembly, in endeavours to spearhead development across the county as well as improve the livelihoods of the people.
