KENHA Advised To Establish Rumbles Along Loitoktok – Kimana Road

Loitoktok Sub County Traffic Base Commander has called upon Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to establish rumble strips along Loitoktok- Kimana road to caution drivers against speeding.

Framwel Njue attributed frequent accidents happening along the road to speeding due to the smooth nature of the stretch.

Njue called upon KeNHA to also erect sign posts to guide traffic so as to reduce the accidents.

He particularly cautioned trailer drivers along the road to avoid free wheel driving which endangers other road users.

The Traffic Base Commander however noted that nearly all the accidents happening along the stretch and other parts of the Sub County involved a boda boda rider.

He cautioned the boda boda riders to observe traffic rules and ensure they have all requirements to be on the road.

Njue also warned motorcycle owners lending them to youths to ensure they have all necessary requirements such as helmets, licenses and insurances adding that they risk being charged with permitting to incase th
e riders are involved in an accident.

The traffic boss also urged the residents conducting their business along Ilasit road near Ilasit market especially during market days to avoid encroaching on the road hence obstructing road users which has led to a number of accidents.

Njue however noted that his duty was not just to arrest and charge traffic rule violators but also sensitize members public on importance of observing road safety measures.

He said the traffic department also worked closely with KeNHA to data collection on status of the roads as well as frequency of accidents which is used to make decisions geared towards ensuring safety on the roads.
