Man dies after consuming traditional liquor at Kavango West

OSHAKATI: A 40-year-old man allegedly died after consuming traditional liquor at Muzoro village in the Kavango West on Monday.

The Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) Head of Media, Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga, confirmed this to Nampa on Tuesday, saying an inquest into the matter has been opened.

“It is allged that the deceased was drinking traditional liquir called Kashipembe and later felt weak. He collapsed in his room and died,” he said.

Kuwinga added that it was also confirmed that the deceased shared the liquor with another person but that person was reported to be fine.

The deceased’s next of kin are yet to be informed of his death.

Police investigation into the matter continues.
