MPs Visit Main Department of Ethiopia’s Naval ForceNew UNDP Representative Pledges to Accelerate Ethiopia’s Sustainable Dev’t Aspirations

Members of Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs Standing committee at the House of Peoples Representatives have today visited the main department of the Ethiopian Naval Force.

Rear admiral Nassir Aba Diga, the Deputy Commander of Ethiopia’s Naval Force, and other senior officials of the institution have warmly welcomed the standing committee members.

The Deputy Commander said on the occasion that the Ethiopian Naval Force was established in a modernized way as part of the national reform agenda of the country.

The Naval Force has now been successfully carrying out several activities to equip it with human resources capabilities and building vital infrastructures, he added.

Newly appointed United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative of Ethiopia, Samuel Gbaydee Doe pledged to exert the utmost effort for a strong and enduring partnership between UNDP and Ethiopia to accelerate the achievement of the country’s sustainable development aspirations.

Doe has presented copies of his Credentials to the Director General of Protocol Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Melaku Bedada today.

Samuel Gbaydee Doe has joined UNDP Ethiopia as the new Resident Representative.

Doe comes to Ethiopia after serving as a Resident Representative for UNDP’s South Sudan (2021 -2023) and Sierra Leone (2019-2021) country offices.

Doe noted that he looks forward to forging broad partnerships to advance Ethiopia’s sustainable development agenda.

He pledged to exert the utmost effort to build upon the strong and enduring partnership between UNDP and the Government and people of this great country, to accelerate the achievement of the country’s sustainable development aspirat
ions as articulated in the 10 Year Development Plan of Ethiopia (2021-2030) and the Homegrown Economic Reforms Programme.

Doe comes to Ethiopia with extensive experience in development work, particularly around governance, recovery, resilience, policy and planning, and peacebuilding.
