Over 60,000 Girls to Benefit from Sanitary Towels Initiative in Vihiga

Vihiga: An estimated 63,619 girls in schools across Vihiga County are set to receive sanitary towels in an initiative funded by the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF). The initiative aims to promote menstrual hygiene and ensure that girls remain in school throughout the academic year.

According to Kenya News Agency, the sanitary towels will be distributed to all primary and junior secondary schools across the county’s sub-counties. Vihiga County Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala highlighted that the programme seeks to provide a safe and dignified learning environment for girls, enabling uninterrupted education.

Adagala urged parents, teachers, and community leaders, including chiefs and village elders, to safeguard children’s well-being, especially girls, during the upcoming holiday season. She expressed her best wishes to candidates preparing for their national exams, encouraging them to stay focused and disciplined as they advance in their education.

A total of 133,064 packets of sanitary towels will be distributed to the beneficiaries, reinforcing the commitment to supporting girls’ education and health in Vihiga County.
