Parliament commends State Department for Lands for outstanding performance


The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Lands has commended the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning for its outstanding performance during the 2023/2024 Financial Year.

This was after the Lands Principal Secretary, Gen. Nixon Korir, briefed the committee on the budget implementation for the financial year, revealing that the State Department had collected an impressive Sh12.89 billion in revenue. The meeting, held at Intercontinental House Nairobi, was chaired by North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko.

‘I am pleased to report that the Lands and Physical Planning Department has exceeded expectations, issuing over 400,000 title deeds during the 2023/2024 financial year, surpassing the target of 330,000 titles,’ PS Korir told the committee. He also noted that an additional 150,000 title deeds are ready for issuance.

Led by Joash Nyamoko, Members of the Committee commended the State Department for its commitment and promised its support for efficient service delivery to Kenyans.

rs of Parliament have praised the State Department for Lands for its commendable work. Among those who voiced their support are Garsen MP, Ali Wario; Emgwen MP, Lelmengit Josses; Changamwe MP, Omar Mwinyi, Kuria West MP, Mathias Robi, Kitui South MP, Rachael Nyamai; and Kilome MP Thaddeus Nzambia.

‘I would like to express my gratitude to the Lands PS for the exceptional work being done in the State Department, particularly in the resettlement of the landless. However, I also urge him to address the needs of Tana River residents. The people of Kipini are still awaiting their title deeds,’ said Ali Wario.

During the last financial year, the State Department achieved significant milestones, including the settlement of over 10,000 households. Additionally, Nairobi and Murang’a counties have been fully digitized, while the scanning and geo-referencing of over 44,000 land parcels in Isiolo, Marsabit, and Mombasa Island are well underway.
