Nayala: ‘Patriotic Immersion is a school of life and a unique experience,’ declared Koala Freshnel, the representative of the Nayala immersion students, yesterday. The compulsory patriotic immersion is a school of life and a unique experience that instills civic-mindedness, discipline, solidarity, mutual respect, and the spirit of sacrifice.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Koala Freshnel spoke at the closing of the first cohort of the compulsory patriotic immersion in Nayala, held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The event was attended by administrative, customary, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, as well as parents and the local population.
The students expressed their gratitude to the provincial authorities, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), trainers, supervisors, and parents. A total of 524 high school graduates, including 277 girls and 247 boys, participated in this training, established by a decree on June 24, 2025, following a decision by the Council of Ministers on May 2, 2025.
The closing ceremony featured the arrival of the flag, the performance of the victory anthem, and a review of the troops by the commander of the Toma parade ground, Captain Zale. Participants demonstrated first aid techniques and Close Operational Intervention Techniques (TIOR), showcasing practical lessons learned from the FDS.
Commander Zale emphasized the values gained during the program, stating, “We are leaving stronger, armed with essential values that we will put into practice in the service of our province and our beloved country, Burkina Faso.”
Honore Frederic Pare, the High Commissioner of Nayala, commended the dedication of all involved in the successful execution of this first edition. He reiterated the program’s aim to instill a sense of duty and defense of the homeland among Burkinabe youth. Despite logistical challenges, the session proceeded with a spirit of sacrifice and commitment.
Mr. Pare encouraged participants to remain loyal to their country and acknowledged President Ibrahim Traore’s role in integrating patriotic immersion into the academic curriculum.
Ki Nestor Judica«l, principal of the Nayala provincial high school and president of the immersion center, urged the youth to uphold the values acquired during the program as they progress in their academic, professional, and civic endeavors.
An anonymous parent attending the ceremony expressed appreciation, stating, “What the security forces have shown these children are true values for their lifelong lives.”
The ceremony’s highlights included the symbolic presentation of certificates of participation, acknowledging each participant’s commitment and success. The event concluded with a military parade, featuring the 23rd Rapid Intervention Battalion, the National Police, and other forces, honoring the participants and the public.
