Narok: A peace group in Narok has donated a consignment of relief foodstuff to at least 100 needy and elderly women in Narok town as part of a sensitization exercise for local communities. The effort was led by Narok peace ambassador Joshua Kaputa, who emphasized the focus on promoting peace and cohesion during the current electioneering period, especially in the wake of heightened political activities following the death of Narok Town ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Lukas Kudate.
According to Kenya News Agency, the elderly women from Majengo and London estates received the donations during a peace campaign rally in the region, which has previously experienced ethnic tensions during political seasons. Kaputa stressed the importance of spreading messages of unity and integration in the cosmopolitan town, which is home to people from various communities. He urged the community to prioritize peace, reminding them that while elections are temporary, the people and their relationships endure.
Kaputa highlighted that development in the area can only be achieved through mutual acceptance and appreciation of the region’s diversity. He called on residents to foster a spirit of brotherhood and accommodate everyone, which would encourage business growth in the rapidly expanding town.
Grace Wangari, the chairlady of the peace group, stated that the food donation aimed to extend love and support to those in need, who might otherwise be overlooked by society. She emphasized the importance of recognizing every individual’s value, regardless of their social status, and sought to deliver a message of hope to the impoverished.
The recipients of the food expressed gratitude to the peace organization and appealed for continued support in other parts of the town where families struggle to secure daily meals.
