Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, along with First Lady Zinash Tayachew, and a high level federal and regional delegation launched the Green Legacy initiative of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR) in Gedeo Zone today.

Marking the occasion, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed appreciated the people of Gedeo for preserving a green environment and reiterated the importance of preserving their peace as well.

Recall Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launched the second phase of Green Legacy Initiative in Afar region, under the theme “Let’s plant our future today” last month.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the first phase of the Green Legacy Initiative was successful in which Ethiopia managed to plant 25 billion seedlings.

He disclosed that the country has set sights to plant another 25 billion seedlings in the second phase of the Green Legacy Initiative.
