Seven people died, Saturday, following a grisly road accident in Migori town, after a lorry ferrying rice lost control along the Kisii-Migori-Isebania highway, before ramming into parked motorbikes and vehicles in the area.
Migori County Commander, Mark Wanjala, confirmed that six adults and one minor aged seven were killed on the spot. The driver of the lorry was among the fatalities.
Three other people are currently admitted at the Migori County Referral Hospital in critical condition.
Wanjala said that the lorry which was in transit from Nairobi to Isebania ferrying rice, was at a high speed, when it lost control.
The accident which occurred around 7.00am in the morning, saw destruction of more than 15 motorbikes that were packed along the road.
A boda boda rider, Kevin Omondi, who witnessed the accident, said the driver of the lorry placed the vehicle on full lights and was hooting continuously to indicate a problem, even as he tried to control the vehicle, before the fatal accident occurred.
