Siaya: Members of Parliament and other leaders of Siaya County on Saturday challenged area police officers to ensure that the key masterminds of the late Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager, Willis Ayieko’s murder are brought to justice. Speaking during the late Ayieko’s burial at Ong’iende village in Central Alego location, the leaders, among them Members of Parliament, Governors, and a Cabinet Secretary, emphasized their demand for answers and justice for both the planners and executors of the crime.
According to Kenya News Agency, Alego / Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi expressed concern that some individuals involved in the investigation might be promoting theories that could hinder efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. Atandi suggested a possible interference by a “bigger force” aiming to obstruct the investigation to deny justice to Willis Ayieko’s family and friends. Siaya Governor James Orengo called on the police to cease circulating stories and focus on apprehending both the planners and killers of Ayieko. He stressed the importance of utilizing modern technology to hold all participants in the crime accountable. Ugenya MP David Ochieng and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo voiced concerns over the prevalence of abductions and mysterious killings in the country, accusing the government of fostering this environment. Ochieng emphasized the need for leaders and citizens to express their dissatisfaction with the police’s handling of these unexplained crimes.
The Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Opiyo Wandayi, who was also present, assured that the government was committed to bringing the culprits to justice and urged for calm among the public. The burial was attended by numerous legislators, including Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Siaya Woman Representative Dr. Christine Ombaka, Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor alia
s Jalang’o, and Busia Governor Paul Otuoma, among others.
Willis Ayieko, 52, went missing on October 18, 2024, and his body was discovered four days later at Mungoware stream, marking the border of Siaya and Kisumu counties. He was last seen attending a funeral vigil in Gem. Ayieko is survived by his widow, Esther Wagumba, and two children.
