Thika Huduma Centre Rolls-Out KASNEB Services

Thika Huduma Centre in Kiambu County has introduced services from the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB), the body that is responsible for preparing and administering exams for diploma and professional certificate courses.

The Centre Manager, Susan Wachira said the move was long overdue as residents had to travel to nearby counties to have their issues addressed, which was very tedious, hence the need to bring services closer to the people.

‘We have already identified the staff who will deliver the necessary services, and they have been deployed and are currently undergoing training, after which the rollout of services will be done. Among the services offered will be registration, administration of examinations, and any inquiries that our clients may have. We would also like the public to note that examinations will be overseen annually in June and December, and the charges will be disclosed at a later date when KASNEB avails their service charter,’ said Wachira.

This development will be a solution for many students and professionals who had earlier protested about the glitches they encountered while using the body’s online portal.

‘The website is actually reliable, but sometimes circumstances beyond the control of the exam body happen, for instance, sometimes there are technical errors and the portal goes offline, which is very frustrating, and this is when the manual process provided at Huduma centre is welcome,’ said Eunice Wairimu, a student at Thika Institute of Business Studies.

Over the years, Huduma centres have provided various government services to the public, a move that has assisted many Kenyans.

The centres are supervised by managers who are also Assistant County Commissioners, deployed by the Ministry of Interior and the administration of the national government.
