Addis Ababa: The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has extended condolences to the families of the victims, the people and Government of Ethiopia over the death of people due to landslide in South Ethiopia Region last Monday. According to a statement issued by the UN, the Secretary-General "is deeply saddened by the loss of more than 200 lives in the south following landslides triggered by heavy rains." The UN Secretary-General extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and Government of Ethiopia. The statement said the United Nations and its partners are working closely with the government, evaluating the humanitarian situation to determine the extent of the damage and assess the humanitarian needs of the affected population.
